Brandon Latawiec
Brandon is a Student-at-Law whose practice is primarily focused on family law. He is also beginning to develop experience in civil litigation and approaches this area with a strong interest in learning and building practical, real-world skills.
He grew up in a small rural community near Westlock, where he developed a strong work ethic from an early age. Before entering the legal profession, Brandon worked in a variety of physically demanding roles, including road construction, warehouse labour, and painting. These experiences continue to shape his approach to practice—he values clear, straightforward communication, reliability, and treating clients with respect and understanding.
Brandon attended law school at the University of Manitoba’s Robson Hall, where he achieved strong academic results, particularly in corporate and commercial law. He was awarded the Garth Erickson Memorial Prize in Commercial Law, the ZSA–National Post Richard Leipsic Prize for high standing in corporate law courses, and the Paul Norman Warren Memorial Prize for achieving the highest standing in Securities Law. During law school, he also volunteered with Pro Bono Students Canada, assisting individuals in accessing legal information and support.
Following graduation, Brandon returned to Alberta to begin his legal career. In his family law practice, he assists clients navigating complex and often emotionally challenging situations. He focuses on providing practical, clear advice while remaining mindful of the broader personal and financial impact of these matters.
Brandon’s background outside of law continues to inform how he works with clients. He understands that legal issues often arise during stressful and uncertain times, and he approaches each matter with patience, professionalism, and a focus on achieving workable, realistic outcomes.
Outside the office, Brandon enjoys spending time with his wife, their pets, and family and friends. He has a strong interest in video games, and also enjoys the occasional board game or trivia. He continues to take an interest in science, reflecting his undergraduate studies in biology and chemistry.
